Panama’s Fashion Week was officially the last runway of the year. Even though I had almost no time to prepare, I was able to make it to a few shows. As we all know culture plays a big role when it comes to creativity and art. It is not a secret that Panama as well as other Latin American countries, has a strong North American influence, but when it comes to design this year runways prove the opposite. The Latin element was seen in every collection, whether it was shown through color, movement of the piece or elements used in the collection. These are some of the designers I got to see:
Tirso Rubio
If I had to describe this collection I would say it is Star Wars meets 2017 jet set in Cote d’Azur. The corsets and oversized shirts caught my eye. There was a modern element that characterized this collection while keeping each piece fluid and effortless, perfect for the Latin American woman.

Dulcesal
The name of the brand should have been a hint of what we were going to see on that runway. This collection was sweet and girly, full of flare, pastel colors with a modern touch. She used satin-like fabrics to bring some edginess to the collection and tried to incorporate structure pieces in unexpected ways.
Malore
This collection had a wide range of interesting knits and its color palette (as the styling) was inspired by earth tones. My favorites were the short dresses as well as knitted vests and crop tops.
Sousa Pitti
One of the most interesting collections I saw. The pieces were minimalistic and modern; with geometric patterns making a statement on each piece. White, cream and blue tones dominated this runway. There was something for everyone. My favorites were the bottoms and dresses.
Shantall Lacayo
If you ever wondered what would happen if My Little Pony had a collection whose target market is not underage girls, this is your answer. You know I love a good pop of color, but this collection took it to another level. Whether you want something for a night out in the city or a destination vacation, Shantall Lacayo got you cover.
Grau
Each model that walked down this runway was ready for the after party. This collection focused on bringing evening attire for every girl. Rather you want to go out in velvet, lace or shine bright like a diamond you will find something you will surely love.

El Fashion Week Panama fue oficialmente la última semana de la moda del año. A pesar de que casi no tuve tiempo de prepararme, pude asistir a algunos shows. Como todos sabemos, la cultura juega un papel importante en lo que respecta a la creatividad y el arte. No es un secreto que Panamá al igual que otros países latinoamericanos tiene una fuerte influencia norteamericana, pero cuando se trata de diseño, las pasarelas de este año demuestran lo contrario. El sabor latino se veía en cada colección, ya sea que se mostrara a través del color, el movimiento de la pieza o los elementos utilizados en la colección. Estos son algunos de los diseñadores que pude ver:
Tirso Rubio: Si tuviera que describir esta colección, diría que es “Star Wars meets 2017 jet set en Cote d’Azur”. Los corsés y las camisas oversized me llamaron la atención. Aunque lo moderno fue lo que caracterizó esta colección, se mantuvo la fluidez y sencillez de las piezas, perfecta para la mujer latinoamericana.
Dulcesal: El nombre de la marca debería haber sido un indicio de lo que íbamos a ver en esa pista. Esta colección fue dulce y femenina; llena de vuelos y colores pastel con un toque moderno. Ella usó telas similares al satén para atenuar lo dulce e intentó incorporar piezas estructuradas de formas inesperadas.
Malore: Esta colección tenía una amplia gama de telas interesantes y su paleta de colores (como el estilo) se inspiró en los tonos tierra. Mis favoritos eran los vestidos cortos, así como los chalecos tejidos y los crop tops.
Sousa Pitti: Una de las colecciones más interesantes que vi. Las piezas eran minimalistas y modernas; con patrones geométricos dejando su marca en cada pieza. Tonos blancos, crema y azules dominaron esta pasarela. Había algo para todos. Mis favoritos fueron los pantalones y los vestidos.
Shantall Lacayo: Si alguna vez te preguntaste qué pasaría si “My Little Pony” tuviera una colección cuyo mercado no fueran las niñas si no nosotras, aquí esta la respuesta. Sabes que me encanta las piezas llena de color, pero esta colección lo llevó a otro nivel. Si deseas algo para salir o para unas vacaciones bien fashion, los diseños de Shantall Lacayo te resuelve.
Grau: Cada modelo que caminaba por esta pasarela estaba lista para irse de fiesta. Esta colección se centró en presentarnos atuendos de noche para cada chica. Si quieres una pieza en terciopelo, encaje o brillar como un diamante, podrás encontrar algo que seguramente te encantará.
