Today I am going to talk about witch hazel. Also known as hamemelin lotion, it comes from the branches of the plant Hamamelis Virginiana. In addition to its liquid form, we can also find mix with other products such as rose petals, aloe vera, lavender and more. They also sell versions of pads and wipes infuse with it.
When I was doing my research for this video I found several ways in which it could be used. Today I bring 5 that I found very interesting. There are some that I have been doing for years and others that I just found out about. The 5 ways are:
- Natural Astringent: This is one of the most famous ways to use it. It contains a large amount of tannins, which means that it has the potential to remove excess oil from the skin and reduce pores. It can also be used as a toner. As it removes excess oil and dirt, its continued use can help reduce the occurrence of blackheads and pimples.
- After shaving: For its anti-inflammatory properties it helps to prevent any inflammation that may form around irritated follicles. It doesn’t give a burning sensation, as other products would do. Witch hazel would relieve and relax those areas after shaving.
- Reduce eye bags: Witch hazel helps tone the skin, making it excellent for reducing the bags under your eyes. Use it cool to reduce dark circles and at the same time the sensation of tired eyes.
- Refreshing Spray: Now that we are in the middle of the summer and for tose that live in Panama that is always hot, witch hazel can be our salvation. In addition to cooling, it also helps to relieve sunburn. Mix in a two-ounce water bottle two teaspoons of witch hazel, 20 drops of mint and 10 drops of lavender essential oil to get a refreshing feeling!
- Antiseptic Hand Gel: Mix witch hazel and aloe vera with some natural antibacterial oil such as lavender or tea tree oil to get a 100% natural hand sanitizer.

Hoy les voy a hablar sobre el agua maravilla. Esta, también conocida como loción de hamemelina, proviene de las ramas de la planta Hamamelis Virginiana. Además de su forma líquida, la podemos encontrar con diferentes mezclas como agua maravilla con pétalos de rosa, con aloe vera, lavanda y mas. También venden versiones de pads y wipes con la misma.
Cuando estaba haciendo mi investigación para este video encontré varias formas en las que se podía usar. Hoy les traigo 5 que me parecieron bien interesantes. Hay algunas que vengo haciendo desde hace años y otras que primera vez que las escucho. Las 5 formas son:
- Astringente Natural: Este es una de las formas mas famosas de usarla. Contiene una gran cantidad de taninos, lo cual significa que la misma tiene el potencial de remover el exceso de aceite de la piel y reducir los poros. La misma puede ser utilizada como toner. Como remueve el exceso de aceite y sucio, su uso continuo puede ayudar a reducir la aparición de puntos negros y espinillas.
- Después del rasurado: Por sus propiedades antiinflamatorias ayuda a prevenir cualquier inflamación que se pueda formar alrededor de folículos irritados. No da sensación de ardor que te daría otros productos. Alivia y relaja esas áreas después del rasurado.
- Disminuye las bolsas de los ojos: El agua maravilla ayuda a tonificar la piel, por lo que es excelente para disminuir las bolsas bajo los ojos. Úsala fría y te ayudara a reducir las ojeras y a la misma vez la sensación de ojos cansados.
- Spray refrescante: Ahora que estamos en medio del verano y en Panamá que siempre hace calor el agua maravilla puede ser nuestra salvación. Además de refrescar también ayuda a aliviar las quemaduras del sol. Mezcla en una botella de 2 onzas agua, dos cucharaditas de agua de maravilla, 20 gotas de mentas y 10 gotas de aceite esencial de lavanda para conseguir una sensación refrescante!
- Gel antiséptico de manos: Combina agua maravilla y aloe vera con algún aceite natural antibacteriano como la lavanda o el árbol del té para conseguir un desinfectante de manos 100% natural.
